There have been numerous reports of poor voter turnout
in today’s gubernatorial elections across the country and particularly
in Kaduna and Lagos. Reports out of Nariyi, Kaduna, suggest that voter
apathy has translated into inactive and absent INEC officials.
Citizen journalists have told SaharaReporters that people are going
about election day like any other day. Most businesses are open and the
markets have been shown to be in full swing.
Sahara correspondents have also reported a 25% voter turnout in Lagos State thus far. Lagos PDP governorship candidate Olujimi Agbaje, said that he was surprised at the low voter turnout. He also encouraged more citizens to come out and participate, expressing that “democracy is a game of numbers”.
